Description
Purpose of position:The OEM Automation Engineer will be responsible for the assessment, design, delivery, testing, qualification and validation of the OEM Equipment Scope to enable the start-up, commissioning and qualification of our new Bulk Drug Substance manufacturing facility being built.
The successful applicant will lead the Automation effort with respect to the specification and integration of OEM equipment with the site MCS & MES Systems for the BDS plant, and will manage the delivery of robust, compliant and cost effective solutions in line with agreed timelines for this key capital project.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure technical alignment between the OEM Vendors and the Site MCS and MES Teams in the Automation project by defining, describing and communicating design and code and interface standards and participate in design reviews, model reviews, etc., and to input on technical elements of the design.
- Co-ordinate the automation contribution to and the development of the system Automation design deliverables to ensure alignment with the project schedule to enable equipment FAT's, on-site SAT's, commissioning and validation of the process systems to meet the overall project schedule.
- Responsible for all ancillary equipment on site (eg Integrity testers, etc.)
- Attendance at equipment FAT's as required.
- Ensures the right technical prioritization in the project.
- Works closely together with the other Automation Engineers, Process engineers and OEM Vendors to ensure deliverables are ready in time for the different milestones throughout the project.
- Works closely together with the other Automation Engineers and OEM Vendors to ensure the defined standards are followed consistently.
- Generation of and/or contribution to operational SOP's as required.
- Willing to travel in Europe and USA up to 30% of the time.
- Demonstrated capability for leading complex OEM Automation projects technically from initial design/development through to the validation of the facility in support of defined objectives.
- Capability to define and set technical direction for the OEM Vendor Team.
- DeltaV - Interface OPC, Profibus etc.
- PLC Experience in Siemans, Allan Bradley
- Extensive experience in the Biotech environment delivering Automation & OEM systems design/commission/start-up.
- Deep process understanding of production processes used in upstream, downstream processes, CIP, and Utilities and has knowledge of automation system architectures.
- Ability to constructively challenge, defend and present technical aspects of system design.
Degree level qualification in science or engineering, or equivalent.
