Description

Hydrogen Group have an excellent opportunity with one of the world's largest energy groups. Our client's successful track record spans over 150 years.
They have a requirement for an experienced Construction Manager, to deliver the Civil & Electrical aspects of Overhead Line, Cable or Substation projects (Transmission voltages)
The role is responsible for planning, management and monitoring site mobilisation, safety coordination across all Contractors, safety performance measurement and leading the relevant site staff to delivering works to the agreed scope.
Projects will vary from new build, replacement, refurbishment or other associated transmission projects throughout Scotland.
Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all relevant legislation with a particular focus on CDM and the role of the Principal Contractor/Contractor including production and maintenance of the Construction Phase Plan and other relevant safety documentation
  • Conduct necessary site inductions, delivery of pertinent safety communications at site, establish and participate in safety leadership tours, incident management and reporting and review of Contractor pre-task planning documentation
  • Manage and deliver site works to meet commercial conditions of contract including minimising delays and claims for variations.
  • Collate and provide monthly reports including cost performance, early warnings and variations
  • Prepare and review tender documents including technical specifications, contractor's scope of work, costs and programmes according to the client standards and specifications
  • Provide support, coaching and technical advice

Key requirements:

  • Significant experience in managing the Civil & Electrical aspects of Overhead Line, Cable or Substation projects (132kv/275kv/400kv)
  • HNC/HND in related engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Safety trained for managing site construction works eg 5 day CITB SMSTS or equivalent
  • Practical experience and awareness of CDM Regulations 2007, in particular the role of the Principal Contractor and Contractor
  • Detailed understanding of procurement processes used in the construction or transmission industry
  • Contract management including variations and claims
  • Working knowledge of FIDIC and NEC conditions of contract
  • Ability to implement quality assurance and environmental processes
  • Knowledge of specification, design, maintenance, construction and commissioning of either civil, electrical or overhead line and cable works
  • Awareness of regulatory issues impacting the business
