Senior Test Engineer upto 40k DOE - North West areaTHE TEST FUNCTION
The test function is integrated into the relevant project teams depending on requirements. Projects handled by Test are a mixture of product design and research programmes based around high integrity electric actuation. The manufacturing team assists by building prototypes and completed designs.
The Test Function plays an important role in the business in not only producing optimal solutions for Product Test but also generating the supporting test documentation and proving the test solutions until manufacturing handover.
In addition support is required for the Qualification Test process from development of a Qualification Test Plan to developing the test process to witnessing off site Qualification tests. Typically products are tested to RTCA DO160 - Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment. Experience of this document would be advantageous.
Candidates should be willing to work off site throughout the UK for extended periods (typically 2-3 weeks).
THE ROLE
This is an excellent opportunity for someone to be part of the lifecycle development of high integrity Aerospace/Aviation products. Some products have the highest safety classification as they are utilised in systems such as flight surface control, landing gear and engine steering.
Initially the role will support a new development project at my clients location however the role may also be required to support heritage products and those in manufacture.
The type of work packages can involve:
- Management of the Test activities throughout the development life-cycle
- Scheduling test fixture asset availability with test activity.
- Requirements Capture from Systems level to individual Product
- Identification and classification of testing needed against requirement
- Writing documentation (test plans & procedures)
- Test design & verification
- Test Commissioning
- Conducting tests on site & off site
- Witness testing on site & off site
- Configuration control
The position particularly suits engineers with enthusiasm for practical aspects of test with a view to developing their documentation and customer facing skills as they progress in their role.
Ideally a degree in a relevant subject is required however consideration will be given to candidates with lesser, or different qualifications who show an enthusiasm for test and can demonstrate the required capabilities.
