Description
Summary- The Market Analyst is responsible for researching and analysing physical and financial energy markets and disseminating information to clients and staff.
- This position is also responsible for writing, editing, producing, and distributing market intelligence reports, publications, and presentations.
- Monitor energy markets, including price action, supply and demand indicators, and regulatory or legislative developments
- Analyze data to identify trends, explain market developments, and otherwise support the company's outlook on future price action
- Support the development of energy market forecasts, including price projections
- Work with clients and internal staff to implement risk management strategies, including regular communications on near- and long-term market outlook
- Assist in writing, editing, producing, and distributing internal and external market intelligence publications and reports
- Present views on energy markets at client meetings, seminars, and conferences
- Act as a resource for other departments and assist on special projects as needed
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant energy experience
- 5+ years of relevant energy experience preferred
- Experience tracking and analysing regional natural gas and electricity pricing preferred
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated abilities in problem solving and independent decision making
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage several different tasks or deadlines simultaneously
- 2-3 years of relevant energy experience and demonstrated analytical skills and problem solving.
