Description
Summary:- Performs engineering design evaluations and works to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints.
- Reviews industry policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Reviews reports of production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine or address problems.
- Provides technical support for the engineering process.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Works under general supervision.
- Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
- Responsible for oversight all engineering design and technical activities
- Coordinate with MEP Discipline Engineers and contract engineering services
- Work within the engineering budget constraints
- Provide technical/professional engineering guidance
- Work directly with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Distribution Operations staff
- Provide engineering design performance metrics to the Project Manager
- Coordinate engineering design work using Detroit Edison and/or industry specifications and standards.
- Approve material changes
- Responsible for issuing Work Scope Document and associated support checklists, Technical Bid Specifications
- Provide design drawing review and approval as defined in the Project Management Plan
- Responsible for ensuring that Detroit Edison design basis documentation is updated properly
- Responsible for the Design Safety Review
- Responsible for managing the project closeout as-built program, turnover of documents to Documentum and Maximo equipment and location updates.
Skills:
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering.
- PMP certification preferred
