Chief Engineer - Nucleus Cloud Service Support Architect - 6 months - Newcastle

The support architect's main responsibility is to assist the lead architect with their responsibilities and to work closely with the lead engineer providing architectural direction as required. The position requires a high degree of senior client engagement working across business, functional and technology domains. The role will be required to represent the account in all technical aspects of the Target Platform Cloud solution.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Cloud Service Architect in establishing Cloud Service Descriptions that are agreeable to both the company and the client's product management team.
  • Provide support and input into the development of the Nucleus Cloud Service roadmap; both intercepting and influencing the corporate MPC roadmap;
  • Prepare business cases to determine the degree to which each service offering should be automated vs effort required to operate/maintain manual procedures;
  • To advise the program of an appropriate point by which automation of services should be introduced and have this reflected into the technology and/or service roadmaps;
  • Provide Architectural governance to the Cloud Service Architecture and represent the service at technical domain governance boards;
  • Maintain supplier and customer stakeholder models for the Cloud Service;
  • Attend and provide governance into the Account Architecture Review Board;
  • Review and govern Nucleus Target Platform Cloud feature release roadmaps (working closely with the technical domain leads);
  • Assist Account Project managers on the following:
    • organize and ensure solution design documents are completed
    • Identify and ensure all infrastructure and architectural deliverables are noted in project schedules
    • Validate the dates for infrastructure deliverables in the project schedule are realistic and achievable

Education and Experience Required

Required:

  • 5 years' experience working in a Lead Engineer or Architecture capacity.
  • 5 years' experience of engaging with senior and executive level stakeholders.
  • Cloud technologies - Industry hardened and Industry trends.
  • Cloud service characteristics
  • HP Helion and OpenStack
  • Hybrid Cloud portfolio offerings
  • Exposure of use of architecture modelling tools, frameworks and notation - SPARX, ITSA and Archimate preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Meets degree educational requirements or has equivalent work experience for job code
  • Ability to conduct/lead status/technical meetings with management or clients on small to medium sized engagements.
  • Demonstrates the use of consulting skills including: questioning, listening, ideas development, permission and rapport, and influencing.
  • Owns and contributes to the technical design of customer solutions. Ability to translate technical details into concise and easy to understand written deliverables. Ability to write relevant components of a proposal document (eg answer specific RFP/RFQ questions). Ability to translate verbal requirements from face to face client meetings into requirements documents, statements of work, and proposals.
  • Able to discuss (within own area of expertise) requirements with the customer, and to challenge and clarify when appropriate. From the requirements, able to develop a high level design or plan, and then estimate the amount of effort required to deliver. Able to advise the engagement owner about the risks associated with this work package.
