Title: Electronic Design Engineer - NY

Location: East Aurora, NY

Rate: $40.00/hr on w2 without benefits

Duration: 5 Months (with the possibility of extension )

Function:

  • The Electronic Design Engineer is concerned with the design of a wide variety of electronic hardware designs for both Industrial and Aerospace controls. Suitable state of the art analog and digital circuits and devices that will provide the required performance and meet the cost objectives must be conceived, designed and developed.
  • Close liaison with vendors and Product Engineering is necessary initially and during all design phases in order to specify practical requirements, generate cost data, and achieve a producible product.
  • Because of the rapid advances in technology, this position must stay abreast of new developments in order to take advantage of devices which provide greater accuracy reduce cost and improve reliability.
  • A diversified background with a knowledge of various disciplines is required. The design engineer must have a thorough understanding of analog and digital control theory, circuit design and hardware design. He/She must think out the human engineering and mechanical details necessary to provide a product that is easy to use and maintain.
  • Versatility and creativity are important attributes to this position. The engineer must be flexible and be able to incorporate changes into his/her design with minimum impact on schedule and cost if the hardware requirements must be modified due to a change of scope, production limitations, or cost pressures
  • It is important to be able to communicate clearly his/her ideas and needs to others, such as draftspeople and technicians, assigned to the project in order to coordinate the efforts of the group in the most expeditious and economical manner. His/Her communication skills must also include the capability of writing operating manuals, establishing troubleshooting procedures and set up techniques.
  • On occasion, visits are required to customer facilities to obtain information, assist sales, or instruct personnel in the proper use of client's equipment.
  • During all phases of his work he/she is governed by scheduled requirements and be able to work under pressure with minimum error and maximum efficiency.
  • It is important that he/she be able to search out and select vendors that have demonstrated their ability to supply reliable devices and specify, if possible, components that are not unique and can be second sourced.
  • The designer must maintain an accurate and complete design log and record design changes as required to provide documentation that fully describes the product.
  • This position has latitude for unreviewed actions and decisions. The individual must be capable of handling project engineering assignments as required.

Essential job functions:

  • Conceive, design and develop electronic products.
  • Prepare documentation to support equipment.
  • Prepare estimates on design and development efforts.
  • Maintain engineering records, changes made and effects of changes on performance.
  • Function as project leader on programs of moderate size.
  • Responsible for technical direction of assigned support personnel.
  • Prepare technical proposals.
  • Perform technical investigations/evaluations.

Education:

  • This position requires a B.S.E.E. Degree and three to five years of related experience.
