Press Officer - Print and Broadcast Media

My public sector client working within transport infrastructure is looking for a Press Officer to join the 20-strong press team working across 6 offices in the UK. The Press Officer will generate print and broadcast media, building productive relationships with journalists. The Press Officer will be based in the corporate centre in Guildford, Surrey and will engage in frequent travel.

Responsibilities of the Press Officer:

  • Deliver high quality communications to the media, road users and other audiences, including stakeholders
  • Contribute to the profile of the organisation and public awareness of the company's work
  • Commission, write, edit and proof read complex publications
  • Ensure that the communications are delivered via the optimal channels for high impact

The Press officer will:

  • Regularly monitor own and team's work against milestones or targets and act promptly to keep work on track and maintain performance
  • Invite challenge and where appropriate involve others in decision making to help build engagement and present robust recommendations
  • Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills. Write clearly, concisely and accurately.
  • Support the design and delivery of techniques to assess the effectiveness and impact of communication.
  • Develop outline communication plans, identifying the most effective channels and tools to engage audiences and maximise reach.
  • Use insight to identify target audiences and partners, support decision making and help inform the overall communication approach.
