Quality Manager

We are currently recruiting for our client, a prestigious telecommunications company to support their project in Uganda.

Position Title: Quality Manager
Position Type: Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 12 months
Location: Kampala, Uganda

Responsibilities:
- Ensure and supervise the planning and execution of quality assurance activities for MTN IT Shared Services.
- Assist in the definition of the unit's strategy, plans, policies, projects and service levels.
- Keep abreast of global and local best practice as it relates to the unit's activities.
- Develop Quality Assurance standards, plans, procedures and templates and ensure compliance in the organization.
- Assist in continuously reviewing the unit's activities, make recommendations for improvement and implement approved initiatives to ensure enhanced performance of the team.
- Assist in identifying required resources, personnel and funding to achieve the unit/function's strategy.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Responsible for transaction monitoring activities in the unit in order to ensure that established IT Quality Assurance systems are effective.
- Responsible for providing staff with standard and quality awareness training, tools and techniques.
- Ensure prompt Quality Assurance review of ongoing IT projects.
- Evaluate IT Quality Assurance status on a regular basis and recommend suitable best practice solutions to the senior management as required.
- Ensure prompt, frequent and appropriate update of QA review work programs/checklists for the various processes and activities within the IT function.
- Assist in implementing the function's work programs and plans in line with agreed upon procedures and guidelines.
- Assist in implementing the organization's Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Assist in planning and managing the human and material resources of the unit to optimize performance, morale and enhance productivity.
- Manage inter-functional relations to ensure synergy across the various departmental functions.
- Provide leadership and guidance to team members and manage subordinates' performance towards the achievement of overall team objectives.
- Prepare/compile agreed periodic QA activity and performance reports for the attention of the senior management.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the senior management within quality management scope as above.

Qualifications/Skills Required:
- A minimum of 5 years relevant working experience
- First degree in a relevant discipline.
- Good communication skills.
- Fluent English.
- Experience of working in Uganda and neighbouring countries highly preferred.
