Description

A Renewable Energy client is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to work on various projects for their offshore wind farms. Our client require a Geotechnical Engineer who has extensive experience with advanced geotechnical laboratory works. The Geotechnical Engineer must have solid experience with scoping and interpretation of geotechnical laboratory tests as well as experience with design of wind turbine foundations. This is a 19 month freelance contract expected to start 1st June 2016 up until approx. 31st December 2017 with the possibility of a further extension. The services of the Geotechnical Engineer will be required on an ad-hoc basis.
Requirement:
  • Input for project due diligence and preliminary concept evaluation
  • Technical SoW for geotechnical surveys, including laboratory tests and employers representatives
  • Technical quality of geotechnical surveys, laboratory testing and other specialised geotechnical testing, eg pile load tests and anchor trials
  • Manage geotechnical database and compile the Geotechnical Interpretative report (GIR)
  • Carryout literature review and compile into geological desk study report model (Ground model) of the site
  • Provide geotechnical input to risk register and report changes to the geotechnical risks when they arise
  • QA of all geotechnical data gathered from site
  • Liaise with certification bodies concerning certification of geotechnical documentation
  • Carry out WTG foundations including quality assurance of all geotechnical stability calculations
  • Provide geotechnical installations support eg driveability assessments
  • Provide geotechnical input to scour assessments and scour protection design for WTG foundations, offshore substations and cables
  • Geotechnical engineering support for cable burial assessments
Execution Phase:
  • Geotechnical design of WTG foundations
  • Technical review of the geotechnical design of OSSs
  • Geotechnical installation support for WTG foundations, cables and substations
  • Any other scour and geotechnical engineering support required during construction phase
Qualifications:
  • MSc or other relevant Master of PhD degree in engineering
  • 5 years of relevant work experience as geotechnical engineer
  • 3 years of relevant work experience with offshore wind projects
