Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with Energy/Power experience to join their Power Transmission and Distribution team in Cumbernauld. Initially contract will be for 4 months but most likely will be extended.

Role Purpose:

To successfully manage the responsible Contract delivery and change management process with associated progress reporting.

There is a requirement to ensure accurate and timely periodic payments and final account agreements with few or no disputes.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Promote and encourage a culture that aligns with and actively supports the BB company values.
  • Provide commercial management of Construction deliverables and budgets, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Develop and maintain formal delivery agreements to produce proactive and positive relationships with all key stakeholders within BB and across the wider Balfour Beatty Group.
  • Understand the importance of corporate governance and ensure consistent measures and standards are applied.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Professional services agreements associated with engineering deliverables for internal and external customers.
  • Commercial management of the Engineering deliverables, change management process and associated progress reporting.
  • Oversee contract negotiations (new and existing contracts) including compliance with 'Contracting for Success', the Group's GMCEs and the Group's Gated Business Lifecycle environment
  • Creation of a 'finger on the pulse' commercial culture creating a business wide commercial awareness culture, including through monthly BUR's and regular 'deep dive' contract reviews
  • Setting policies, procedures and processes for the delivery of commercial functional responsibilities on BU contracts in conjunction with the England and Wales Head of Commercial and consistent to the requirements of the Group Stage Gates within the Group's Gated Business Lifecycle environment.
  • Timely and successful resolution of disputes, claims and final accounts
  • Review and enhance time allocation methodologies and time related reporting.
  • Produce detailed periodic commercial reports
  • Data capture and entry into reporting templates
  • Provide detailed information in support of applications for payment
  • Prepare detailed change estimates
  • Contribute to the provision of information in support of the monthly commercial and financial reporting requirements
  • Analysis and preparation of data for inclusion within applications for payment, resource returns, time allocation sheets and the like.
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be required due to the demands of the business.

Skills required for the role:

  • Relevant professional qualifications and/or experience
  • Post qualification experience working of civil engineering, infrastructure or complex projects
  • Ability to generate, develop and manage Professional services agreements and obligations
  • A well-organised and self-motivated individual with good inter-personal skills.
  • Literate and numerate team player
  • IT skills including Word, Excel,
  • Good presentation skills
