Description

Responsabilities

Working with the Director of Content and other publishing staff as well as outside vendors and partners, the Associate Editor manages the CW Observer blog, webinars and other published content. Provides editorial and administrative support to the content department, including responding to inquiries, organizing/managing information, and conducting web research.

Manages priorities, meets deadlines and works well under pressure. Ensures accuracy with careful proofreading and attention to details.

Content Management

- Manages CW Observer, a supplement to CW magazine
- In coordination with the editorial team, sources, selects and places articles in CW Observer blog
- Works with authors to shape articles to fit with IABC's content guidelines
- Responds to and manages prospective author inquiries
- Manages podcast and webinar sourcing and

Editing/proofreading

- Ensures high quality work with careful proofreading of the CW Observer blog and other web content

- Provides proofreading services to other departments (marketing/communications, professional development, etc.)

Multimedia/Online

- Prepares and posts copy for IABC's website and ensures pages are up to date
- Posts content for IABC's home page
- Writes posts for IABC's blog
- Prepares and sends weekly CW Observer email and other newsletters and emails as requested
- Develops content for SEO; tracks, reports and interprets analytics

Professional Development

- Schedules and hosts monthly webinars (serves as point of contact, manages the review process, etc.)
- Supports World Conference and IABC workshop promotion, including conducting interviews with speakers, writing promotional material, etc.
- Manages bi-weekly World Conference content marketing newsletter leading up to World Conference
- Supports World Conference planning as needed, including volunteer management, speaker management, etc.

Administrative

- Monitors, tracks and processes invoices

- Manages contracts with authors, content partners and vendors

- Maintains and tracks databases of authors and reviewers
- Conducts research/benchmarking projects as requested

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in English, journalism or communication
- Strong editing and proofreading skills
- Strong organizational, analytical and research skills
- Experience with MS Excel, MS Word and Internet research on PCs
- Experience with WebEx and Cvent for webinar management
- Familiarity with WordPress blogging platform or other content management systems
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with a diverse group of people
- Knowledge of web analytics and SEO
- Demonstrated attention to detail

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Occasional travel, evening and weekend work hours
