Systems Engineer - Aerospace/Avionics/Safety Critical/RTCA DO-178

A new contract position has arisen for a Systems Engineer to join a renowned aerospace leader based on the South Coast. Due to recently winning a number of large, prestigious new contracts, my client needs to rapidly expand their team of Systems Engineers.

Purpose of the role:
Develop and implement structured engineering solutions to meet programme requirements across the whole development life cycle in accordance with legislation, customer requirements, human factors, and business needs. Working in accordance with and delivering against agreed technical, quality, cost and schedule requirements.

Key attributes:
The successful candidate will have the ability to understand the full cycle coupled with the aptitude to apply underpinning knowledge.

You will also need to have experience of working at a "single LRU or box" level, within the aviation industry or similar safety critical sector, as well as a demonstrable ability to identify solutions to engineering problems using analysis and evidence to draw conclusions and make recommendations.

Skills and experience required:

*Experience of capturing and analysing system requirements and of validating and verifying that the system that has been produced as a result meets the original specification
*Understanding of typical hardware and software architectures within single-box systems and good awareness of hardware and software design processes.
*Ability to follow a disciplined and rigorous approach to requirements management .
*Confidence to challenge the requirements and architecture of the system at each level of the hierarchy.
*Ability to write integration and verification plans, define detailed test procedures and perform systems verification activities.
*Ability to follow a disciplined and rigorous approach to Systems Engineering for Civil aircraft
*Understanding of design for safety in Civil Airborne Systems and Equipment
*Knowledge of current Systems Engineering standards and techniques particularly with respect to flight certified civil airborne systems (EUROCAE ED-79A/SAE ARP4754A, SAE ARP4761, EUROCAE ED-80/RTCA DO-254, EUROCAE ED-12C/RTCA/DO-178C, EUROCAE ED-14G/RTCA DO-160G, CS-ETSO, CS-23,CS-25, CS-27, CS-29,).

Please note that due to the nature of the projects, the successful candidate must be capable of passing the relevant security checks as required, and able to work in the UK without restrictions.
