Mortgages Market Insight & Forecasting analyst

My client, a leading Retail banking organisation, is looking for an experienced finance professional to join their mortgages insight team to help model, drive and provide insight on the banks mortgage business. The position will be responsible for supporting the Forecast Manager in the reporting, analysis and forecasting of Mortgage Balances and Income.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for providing insight into the Mortgage market and how movements in key performance indicators in the economy may affect the Mortgage market and ultimately the bank's forecast.
  • Modelling forecast projections whilst ensuring that strong governance controls are Embedded within this process and that these figures are clearly and transparently documented through to point of sign off.
  • Keeping up to date with the Mortgage market and feeding back available insight into potential market changes
  • Using third party data sources to build a view of the Mortgage market movements and how these will impact the bank
  • Providing a weekly view of how the bank has performed compared to the market.
  • Assisting and providing commentary for the Mortgage forecasts and various scenarios.
  • Provide insight and challenge using supporting data to the assumptions underpinning forecasts and scenarios
  • Developing and maintaining strong business partnering relationships with partners within the Products team; responding to ad hoc data and analysis requests to help support them in their roles managing the business.
  • Robust controls and governance of models (Excel)
  • Any other duties as required to assist the overall team meet its deliverables.

Requirements

  • A self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and through the use of well-structured PowerPoint presentations.
  • Effective planning, organising & prioritisation skills.
  • Strong excel skills - comfortable with manipulating large data sets and use of Pivot tables.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for output and wider development, contributing to the overall success of the team.
  • Have a good commercial focus - attuned to evolving business needs and able to support the rapid development of finance capabilities to deliver performance enhancing support to the Mortgages business.
  • Have strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and evaluate changing customer trends.
  • Have a good awareness of the financial services market and relevant accounting developments.
  • MS Office (particularly Excel) and financial systems knowledge.
  • Experience of using Business Objects would be beneficial in this role.
