Summary of Position

The Corporate Buyer purchases telecommunications equipment, parts, and related goods and services to meet the needs of the Company nationwide. He/She is responsible for the ethical execution of duties required to provide for receipt of products and services to the system locations and corporate. The candidate should possess an understanding of telecommunications networks, voice and data services and possess strong project management skills. In addition, a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, presentation skills, ability to multi-task prioritization. The incumbent reports to the Director of Purchasing within the Supply Chain Management Department and is responsible for managing commodities, suppliers, and purchases to meet customer needs.

Position Responsibilities

  • Participates, under minimum supervision, in broad assignments requiring originality and ingenuity with latitude for decisions.
  • Daily review of requisitions, and issuing of Purchase Orders; monitoring compliance with established agreements.
  • Negotiate prices for assigned commodities
  • Interaction with end users at Cox systems and Corporate, Accounting, senior management, and suppliers; advise and train internal customers, as required (purchasing approaches/procedures)
  • .Identify, evaluate and select suppliers which best meet business needs; Assist in an on-going review of current suppliers and actively seek new suppliers.
  • Work with suppliers in expediting purchase orders to insure timely deliveries of the correct products.
  • Gain a thorough understanding and comply with all Cox corporate and departmental policies, methods and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Purchasing experience in cable industry-related products and telephony equipment, with computer and studio equipment knowledge helpful. Willingness to take on buying responsibilities in new product fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain management or a related field and/or equivalent of 3-5 years of procurement experience required.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (preferably Oracle Purchasing)
  • Position requires strong computer skills: MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Proven analytical abilities.
  • Good oral and written communication skills; Customer focused.
  • Some Sourcing experience preferred
