Our Central Government client based in both Birmingham and London are currently recruiting for a Quality Manager.

Role profile

  • Implement and maintain Forensic quality standards (ISO 17025) in specific Commands across the client to ensure compliance with the EU mandate and the Forensic Science Regulator.
  • Manage the creation, maintenance, version control and central archiving of Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Manuals and Safe Systems of Work to fulfil ISO standard requirements.
  • Approve and issue new and updated procedures across the Forensic landscape; ensuring organisational policies are up to date.
  • Record and manage any corrective actions or non-compliance identified; investigate and take appropriate actions where necessary.
  • Report quality issues to management meetings where improvements will be discussed and agreed.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding of Quality Standards and National Occupational Standards; interpret and produce appropriate recommendations from the Forensic Science Regulator.
  • Conduct and manage regular internal quality audits against working practices within the Forensic Services Quality Management System.
  • Work closely with managers and supervisors within the Forensic Services Department and other of the clients Commands as appropriate.

Key Skills/Experience

  • UKAS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Forensic Laboratory course or equivalent qualification.
  • Lead Auditors Course set by the International Register of Certified Auditors.
  • Certificate/Diploma in Quality Management.
  • Project Management qualification.
  • Thorough understanding of ISO 17025 in a forensic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills.
  • Excellent ICT skills and the ability to extract, analyse and present performance data.
  • Drafting/report writing skills (eg policy, service level agreements, reviews, evaluations and reports).
  • Previous experience of improving/delivering ISO quality standards particularly ISO 17025.
  • Previous experience of the development and maintenance of Quality Management systems from UKAS accredited bodies.
  • Demonstrate competence to conduct audits against ISO 17025 standard.
  • Evidence of continuous business improvement.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of ILAC G19 and the Forensic Science Regulators Code of Practice and Conduct.
  • Training and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and co-ordinate projects and implement change.
