CATIA V5 Designer - 6 months Contract - Portsmouth
A leading Client of Modis is looking for a CATIA V5 Designer who will be responsible for the Mechanical design aspects of telecommunications Satellites, specifically the communications module through the phases of Customisation, Detailed Design and Prepare for Assembly.
Activities for the CATIA V5 Designer include:
- Ancillary Item Design in accordance with PTH MDO modelling rules using Catia V5 Part
- Manage the layout of equipment's on the spacecraft panels using a combination of Catia V5 and VPM
- Produce waveguide routings in accordance with project inputs (ICD's and Interface Block Diagram) using Catia V5 waveguide workbench
- Produce Coax Cable routings in accordance with project inputs (Equipment's ICD's and interface Block Diagram) using Catia V5 Tubing workbench
- Manage electronic release of associated drawing and data files via SPRINT/Windchill to enable configuration. Working in a team of designers (typically up to 20) reporting status to Project Team Leader
- The main work location shall be the Portsmouth Mechanical Design Office, but as necessary and as directed the successful CATIA V5 Designer shall be required to work on a short term basis in the mechanical design offices
CATIA V5 Designer Outline Job Profile:
- Design of coax and/or waveguide routings. Training will be given in the use of CATIA V5 wave guide and tubing workbenches etc.
- Creation of models and drawings for both details and assemblies.
- 3D Solid Modelling.
- 2D Detailing.
CATIA V5 Designer Qualifications and/or Skills:
Essential: HNC in Mechanical Engineering with a good Engineering or equivalent
Good communication skills at all levels.
Desirable: Knowledge of VPM and PDM system.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
CATIA V5 Designer Previous Experience:
Essential: Good working knowledge of 3D modelling and 2D drafting within CATIA V5 design environment.
Demonstrable experience of design of coax and/or waveguide routings.
Creation of models and drawings for both details and assemblies.
Desirable: Aerospace experience, mechanical design
