Our Leading Educational Client are looking for a System/Project Accountant - please note that our client are looking for a hands on Accountant rather than ERP specialist.

Qualifications required for post:
CCAB Qualified, Project Management qualification desirable.

Experience required for post:

Extensive knowledge of developing and implementing new ERP and Business Intelligence software and continuous development of existing systems.
Knowledge of preparing Statutory and Management Accounts in a complex group environment.
Working knowledge of ERP systems including POP/AP/AR/GL and FA modules, an understanding of accounting, reporting, auditing principles and concepts and the ability to apply these to ERP and Reporting systems.
Experience of managing Finance/IT projects, with an understanding of Project and Change Management methodologies.
Experience of working in a finance role within a complex group environment, and of working with finance and non-finance managers to implement system and process improvements.
Strong data manipulation skills in Excel, ability to write SQL queries and an understanding of the concepts of relational databases.
Experience of working with interfaces from other systems, including their design, maintenance and development.
Extensive knowledge of Business Intelligence systems, in relation to financial reporting within a complex group environment, system administration, security, Data/Universe structures and their maintenance and development.

Overall purpose of post:

The post holder will develop the finance systems strategy and deliver efficiencies and process improvements to finance and reporting.

He/she will be responsible for maintaining and developing the ERP and reporting systems, ensuring they are fit for purpose and configured/maintained/developed to provide the finance process and management Information needs of the University.

The post holder will be the lead finance contact for projects that impact the delivery of management information and finance processes through the ERP and Business Intelligence systems.
The post holder will provide accounting support to the finance team and undertake any specific accounting projects as requested by the Director of Finance.

Main duties:

Responsible for developing the finance systems strategy

Responsible for delivering efficiency and process improvements to finance and reporting

Maintain the integrity of the ERP and Reporting systems to include: interfaces, access rights, chart of accounts, reporting hierarchies and structures, up to date manuals and act as the financial systems consultant.

Finance Department lead for OBIS and other departmental projects affecting the ERP and reporting systems

Project manage the implementation of all new financial systems and upgrades

Maintain the integrity of the financial systems so that they allow the preparation, on agreed bases, of all required Returns and provide a sound base for management decisions.

Manage the Business Intelligence reporting system for Finance users, develop and produce Business Objects reports for the wider University and central finance and progress the development of Intranet pages for the Finance & Legal services Directorate.

Co-ordinate the month end and annual closedown of systems in conjunction with the Financial Accountant.

Organise and oversee training on all University financial systems.

Ensure that all systems and procedures are accurately documented.
