Senior Engineer - Naval Architecture
A Senior Engineer with Naval Architecture experience is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Glasgow.
This is a 6 month contract with a leading UK defence company.
Overview of the Senior Engineer contract role
You will be required to support junior engineers, manage budgets, lead and motivate teams and make engineering decisions within their own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority for our defence client.
Key skills required for the Senior Engineer
- Knowledge and experience of the design and derivation of ship structural scantlings.
- Knowledge of the loads relevant to the design of ship primary structure.
- Knowledge of the calculations and analyses used in the design of ship primary structure.
- In-depth knowledge of the use of Classification Society rules and processes (preferably Lloyd's Register Naval Ship Rules) as they apply to ship structure and scantlings.
- Able to perform robust analysis using recognised analytical tools and to make sound judgements based on experience.
- Has sufficient breadth of knowledge of warship design and the sound judgement needed to be able make correct trade-off decisions.
The role is based in Glasgow - Commutable from Kilmarnock, Paisley, Greenock, Stirling and Falkirk with excellent access from Edinburgh
