Role: M&E Inspector

Location: Suffolk

Rate: £ per day



My client a leading renewable energy operator is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Inspector responsible for the monitoring of site installation works for mechanical/electrical plant and associated cabling of an onshore substation from the national grid switchgear to the transition pit. The Inspector will be required to report to the Site Manager and Package Quality Engineer.



Principle accountabilities:

  

The Mechanical and Electrical Work Inspector will be expected to:



- Monitor conformance and expedite progress of the works and report upon it for;

- Installation of HV/LV Equipment found on an onshore substation.

- Surveillance of cable works and jointing.

- Installation of supporting structural steel works.

- Installation of mechanical plant.

- Monitor compliance of contractor to the following;

- Project Quality Plans.

- Inspection and Test Plans.

- Working Protocols.

- Site inspection documentation.

- ISO, EN BS and industry norms



Contractual requirements.



- Assist with the review of quality documentation and as builts submitted by the contractor and his subcontractors in liaison with the appropriate Package Managers/Engineers and the Operations and Maintenance Team.

- Attendance at of Witness Points (WP) and expediting expected WP where notifications are not received.

- Identify non-conformances, reporting to them to the Quality Engineer and Site Manager.

- Manage lists of open points “minor non-compliances”.

- Manage snagging lists and ensuring closure with a fully auditable trail.

- Demonstrate a good knowledge of HV/LV/Mechanical sub-station equipment installation activities manufacturing and installation techniques.



- Attend site quality, progress and technical meetings.



The position is site based, the position the holder will be expected to travel for the attendance of Offsite Acceptance Tests and Factory Acceptance Tests on as needed basis within the UK.



Knowledge and Skills:



Essential:



- Extensive experience of installing HV/LV Equipment.

- Significant practical experience working in a similar role such as a Contractors Foreman, Site Manager or Client Inspector within a substation/transmission organisation role.

- HV Cable Installation Experience, including knowledge of cabling and jointing.

- Significant experience working in a high voltage electrical engineering environments upto 400kV.

- Fluent written & verbal English.

- IT literate in Microsoft, word, excel, power point and outlook.



Desirable: 



- ONC qualification (or equivalent) in an Electrical HV/LV discipline

- Knowledge of civil works in this field.

- Experienced in dealing with contractors/sub-contractors.

- Coating Inspector ICORR, Frosio or equivalent.

- CSWIP Welding Inspector or equivalent.

- Knowledge of compiling as built records.
