The Client
Our client is a bank based in London looking for an Accountant to work on an IFRS 9 Project.
The Interim Assignment:
Primary responsibilities of the Technical Accountant is to design the new operating model relating to IFRS 9 classifications, impairment calculations, management judgments, disclosures, etc) and ensuring proposed model methodology meets requirements of the new Standard and Regulatory Implementation Guidance.
You will also be required to lead technical accounting dialogue with various stakeholders including the regulators, auditors, Risk and Audit Committees and Senior Finance.
You will be expected to:
. Provide technical interpretation on all aspects of the IFRS 9 accounting Standard.
. Review the proposed credit risk model methodology and criteria for assessing significant risk deterioration developed by Risk across retail and corporate portfolios and document a compliance assessment.
. Lead the Technical Accounting Working Group to resolve issues identified by Subject Matter Experts across the business, regulators, internal and external auditors, etc.
. Present key recommendations to the Technical Accounting Management Committee as it relates to IFRS 9 compliance considerations.
. Review and propose changes to accounting policy for provisioning across retail and corporate and commercial products, as required.
The Interim Manager
You will have the following:
. Detailed understanding of the IFRS 9 Standard, Basel Implementation Guidance, IAS 39 provisioning accounting requirements for retail and corporate portfolios, capital models.
. Ability to work closely with Risk - particularly quantitative Risk modelling teams.
. Extensive knowledge and understanding of Corporate/Treasury Products, including cash and funding instruments, loans and deposits, repo/reverse repo, stock loan/borrow, derivatives (interest rate, inflation, cross currency, equity linked).
. Qualified accountant with experience in a Financial Services industry.
