Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Contract - City
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical direction for the design and systems integration for internally consumed shared services (such as AD/DNS/File & Print etc.) from definition phase through to implementation
Apply significant knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve services
Audit and document the current "as-is" state of shared services across the estate
Identify areas of improvement that can be incorporated into the "to be" design
Create multiple designs for shared service elements in the new environment
Provide support to Lead Infrastructure Engineer in designing the new infrastructure environment
Liaise with the Third Party design engineers over the design of the new shared services model
Analysis of migration plans to ensure a sound approach, with a solid understanding of risks and issues
Identify and articulate potential impacts to planned activities
Supporting the testing phases, including reviewing test scenarios and scripts, in conjunction with testing teams and business
Knowledge, skills and experience required
5 years+ experience as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer specialising in data/system migration and/or exposure to deployment projects involving service migration
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or Engineering or equivalent work experience required
Understanding of the following technologies:
IIS/Apache
DFS-R/N
Windows Clustering
SSL decryption/encryption
HP DataProtector
Powershell
Exchange 2010
Barracuda Anti-Spam Firewalls
Symantec Endpoint
CryptZone Appgate
UNIX (Centos)
Virtual Technologies (VMware)
Active Directory
Experience of PCI-DSS environments
Demonstrated experience in data centre consolidations, relocations or migrations
Demonstrate a holistic understanding of all data centre operations functions
Knowledge of contemporary data centre infrastructure technologies including virtualisation, networking, clustering, database, middleware and storage
Strong technical/analytical skills within a complex environment
Demonstrated experience of technical documentation
Understand business working practices & dependencies
Excellent communication skills and experience effectively communicating with technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to create detailed architectural diagrams
Advanced documentation/technical writing skills Demonstrated efficient and effective use of problem-solving and task prioritization to solve complex technical challenges
Occasional travel to domestic and international sites may be required
