COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
We are currently recruiting for a Community Economic Development Officer for a local authority based in Spennymoor, Durham. This is a Full time temporary position to start at the end of August for approximately 3 months with the possibility of further extension.
The post holder will report to the Community Economic Development Team Leader and will be directly responsible for the development and delivery of Community Economic Development Projects; and development, implementation and review of area-based regeneration and economic development activity at the community level.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, develop and implement projects.
- Identification of area specific Economic Development priorities.
- Developing project solutions in line with identified priorities.
- Identifying and engaging with internal and external agencies to assist in the delivery of comprehensive regeneration solutions.
- To identify project-based activity for priority communities focusing on social infrastructure and physical renewal works.
- Liaise with internal teams and external organisations to ensure effective service responses to priority communities.
- To identify, understand and respond to the regeneration and economic development issues affecting urban and rural communities across the locality.
- To assist in the development of briefs and commissioning documents in relation to physical and social renewal.
- Project management of Community Economic Development schemes.
- To liaise and co-ordinate with other departments and outside bodies in the design and implementation of Community Economic development initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification in regeneration/economic development or related field.
- Experience of delivering complex regeneration programmes across a broad geographic area.
- Experience in development and implementing area based regeneration, and Community Economic regeneration initiatives.
- Project management experience.
- A project management qualification is highly desirable but not essential.
- Experience of working with public sector partners, the voluntary/community sector and employers.
- Experience of managing extensive budgets relating to staff and project activity.
- Advanced theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of Regeneration and Community Economic Development activity.
- Knowledge of good practice and effective methods of delivery in social regeneration.
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
