Role:
The Platform and Service Development group is a multi-skilled technical team of engineers/
developers with a strong focus on creative technical solutions to the challenges of efficiently managing large scale Business Critical IT infrastructure.
We are currently looking for a VMWare specialist with a can-do attitude to join a project responsible for delivering our next generation of cloud infrastructure services. Working with our subject matter experts and support teams you will help deploy, test and document a highly automated VMWare-based infrastructure and cloud management platform.
You will have a strong team of techies around you to support you but will be expected to be a self-starter who can research and understand new technologies quickly and design and propose solutions for peer review. Good team-working is a must and experience in a multi-disciplined agile-type environment is a plus.
Responsibilities include:
- Implementing vRealize Operations, including developing custom alerting and monitoring of vSphere related objects
- Implementing vRealize Log Insight in a production environment
- Creating the processes and documentation to enable our monitoring team and client support team to manage vRealize Operations and vRealize Log Insight
- Working with our Automation and Integration team to integrate vRealize Operations and vRealize Log Insight into our incident management and reporting systems
- Assist with forming a BCDR strategy using Cross-vCentre NSX and VMWare Site Recovery Manager with an array of physical based systems.
- Creating the processes and documentation to enable our client support team to manage an NSX overlay (client) network and L3 iSCSI storage fabric.
- Assisting with the documentation and operationalisation of vRealize Automation
Person:
- Knowledge and experience of NSX production deployments overlaying a L3 leaf-spine fabric (cross-vcentre NSX experience preferred)
- Knowledge and experience of vRealize Operations and vRealize Log Insight
- Knowledge and experience of vRealize Automation 7 production deployments (enterprise or distributed deployments)
- Experience in designing and managing monitoring approaches in a virtual environment (NSX monitoring experience an advantage)
- Experience with iSCSI storage protocols
- Senior support or engineering level experience (ideally with experience of design, deploy and operations of IT infrastructure)
- Familiarity with CIS hardening standards and implementation of security hardening an advantage
- Excellent Troubleshooting and Analytical skills
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Able to work effectively in a team and a cross multi-functional teams
