CATIA V5 Design Engineer - 6 months Contract - Stevenage - Hertfordshire
A leading Client of Modis is looking for a CATIA V5 Design Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining a high degree of CAD competence in Detailed Design within an engineering group or Project team environment. The CATIA V5 Design Engineer will provide good engineering design support on project work.
The CATIA V5 Design Engineer will liaise with internal and external customers in the product groups and business units along with being an integral part of a small Team of Design Engineers supporting a Principal Designer.
CATIA V5 Design Engineer Tasks
As the CATIA V5 Design Engineer you will work within a concurrent engineering Project team reporting to the MDO Group leader. To liaise with stress, thermal and mechanical sub-system groups and having a good appreciation of their work. You will carry out DMU design accommodation activities given a detailed top-level requirement specification with little or no guidance.
The CATIA V5 Design Engineer will be responsible for the creation, control, correctness and accuracy of all drawings, models, Digital Mock Up (DMU), bills of materials and engineering change notes as related to the configured items for allocated project(s) to cost and schedule.
As the CATIA V5 Design Engineer you will ensure all outputs from the Mechanical Design Office (MDO) is correct to the project requirements as stated by the core team (generally the Mechanical Architect/Responsible Engineer). All the project DO outputs must be checked, signed and stamped by the MDO lead design engineer to the checklists and CATIA.
Qualifications and/or Skills
Essential:
- Catia V5 3D Modelling and 2D Drafting
- Strong Engineering and Technical background
- Working within a team environment
Previous Experience

- Mechanical Engineering background
- Microsoft Word and Excel
- Appreciation of Structural Requirements
- General DO Practices
- Experience of VPM/3DCOM and Configuration PDM Tools
- Aerospace Design
Desirable:
- Antenna Detail Design - GD&T
