Description

A renewable energy operator is looking for an Offshore Substation Transformer Platform (OSP) Installation Manager. This role will be based in Wiltshire, however there will be visits to Hartlepool/
Lowestoft/Holland. The OPS Installation Manager is required to start as soon as possible, on an initial 12 months' contract. The project is currently in the construction phase with first power planned in 2017.

The Role:
  • To provide support to the Electrical Systems Package Manager on all aspects of the load out, transport and installation of the Offshore Platform.
  • To ensure that Offshore Substation Transformer Platform (OSP) installation is planned and executed to facilitate safe and efficient load out, transport and installation.
  • To ensure that technical risks during the load out, transportation and installation of the OSP is assessed, avoided or mitigated through selection of the most appropriate vessels and equipment.
  • To provide a continuity of technical support through the design and installation process including a presence offshore during installation to supervise contractors' works.
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Provide support in the project for load out transport and installation strategy of the OSP
  • Review the contractors' documentation in relation to the requirements for load out, transportation, storage and installation of the OSP.
  • Provide support to associated packages for example the review of suitability of installation aids located on the OSP cable platform, storage of 3rd party equipment, etc.
  • Liaise with interface engineers to ensure that the interfaces to other packages are managed effectively.
  • Liaison with the engineers responsible for the design process to ensure all interfaces between supply and installation are effectively managed.
  • Review of contractor method statements and risk assessments
  • Site supervision of installation equipment and temporary works
  • Offshore supervision of transportation and installation activities
  • Ensuring availability of necessary documentation for certification and marine warranty surveillance process
  • Liaison with Marine Warranty Surveyor activities
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Technical background: Mechanical/Electrical/Civil HNC or higher preferred, or equivalent Offshore/Marine Qualification
  • Extensive offshore experience with offshore works including installation, associated vessels, ROV, operations.
  • Good understanding of: Vessel mobilisation/de-mobilisation, Vessel & equipment capabilities, offshore logistics, weather down time analysis, risk analysis, piling, UXO and other seabed hazards
  • Training requirements: H&S qualification, BOSIET, working at Height, Vessel Transfer & must hold a valid offshore medical
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations
  • Willingness to travel and to go offshore
