EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: This assignment will be working with one of Sopra Steria's important Government sector clients. You will work through Sopra Steria Recruitment for Sopra Steria, the UK's leading Outsourcing and Technology Company.

This is an excellent new long term assignment for a Delivery Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary digital team focussed on the development, delivery and support of client products that meet the GDS Service Standard.

The Delivery Manager is adept at delivering complex digital projects, breaking down barriers for the team, and both planning at a higher level and getting into the detail to make things happen when needed.

The client requires an experienced Delivery Manager to quickly establish a Discovery phase project and deliver the appropriate outcome from the discovery activity.

There are a number of discovery activities waiting to be progressed and the Delivery Manager may transition on from one piece of work to another during the course of the contract. The contract length is to be agreed at time of offer.

The successful candidate must be willing to undergo a security clearance process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading the delivery of products using agile methodologies, learning & iterating frequently
  • Work with Product Owners to define the roadmap for the product and facilitate the breaking down of requirements to enable the translation of this roadmap into user stories
  • Lead the collaborative, dynamic planning process - prioritising the work with the Product Owner, against the capacity and capability of the team
  • Leading, managing and coaching a multidisciplinary team, setting guidelines and principles
  • Ensuring all products are built to an appropriate level of quality
  • Where appropriate, line management responsibilities

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

Expert in leading a project:

  • managing people and agile delivery to develop high-performing, self-motivated and collaborative teams,
  • mentoring and coaching the members of the delivery team as required.

Expert in creating a clear sense of direction and purpose for the team:

  • agreeing and achieving goals,
  • focussing on delivering value early and often,
  • iterating and continuously improving delivery,
  • identifying and removing blockers that hinder delivery,
  • managing risks and dependencies within, and between delivery teams

Expert in using a wide range of agile frameworks, methodologies, techniques and tools:

  • understanding when and where to apply them, eg. Scrum, Kanban etc
  • tracking progress against delivery
  • managing items in backlog
  • resolving risks, issues and blockers
  • communicating project status to the team and stakeholders

Expert in identifying and engaging with stakeholders confidently through a high level of interpersonal and written communication skills; able to communicate with both technical and non-technical staff at all levels, and to produce clear, concise documentation

Expert in managing budget/finances using appropriate project tracking and monitoring tools and techniques

Expert in managing supplier relationships effectively

The successful candidate must be willing to undergo a security clearance process.
