Senior Communications Officer with excellent web/social media experience required for 6 Month contract with a public sector client in Edinburgh.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Communications Officer with previous extensive experience at this level in a similar organization, with a proven track record of managing traditional and digital media.

The main purpose of this role will be to support the communications work across an exciting new improvement resource.

Duties will include:

Managing the delivery of communications activity through a mix of communications activity which is likely to include:

  • Support from other member of the communications team (brochure production, graphic design, infographics, brand management, media management, internal communications)
  • Briefing and managing external agency support (website development and film production)
  • Copywriting
  • Delivering content on social media platforms
  • Supporting presentations from senior team

Essential skills:

  • Good knowledge of all communication channels, but particularly web and social media
  • First class people skills and 'account management' skills - there is a need to work well with people from a variety of professional backgrounds
  • Able and experienced in briefing in -house communications expertise and external agencies for communications activity (eg graphic design, print production, video production) in order to make work happen
  • Excellent writing skills required and an ability to distil complex message into simple language
  • Ability to persuade and coach professionals who are not necessarily steeped in communications work through communications processes and disciplines.
  • Experience of creating and delivering effective communications plans to time and on budget
  • An ability to use traditional and new media to engage an audience.
  • A high level of writing ability, including copywriting, interpersonal, creative, and influencing skills.
