Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Information Officer to work within Central Government on a contract basis. This position is based in London, initially until March 2017 offering up to £350 per day Ltd.

Main Duties:

Provide campaign support to the Senior Marketing Manager in the day to day planning and delivery of Department for Transport marketing campaigns, including the THINK! road safety campaign
Develop and deliver proactive media strategies for the Department's driver education campaigns and use campaign strategies to develop and deliver proactive media plans.
Identify and build effective contacts with key journalists and social influencers that have reach and impact with campaign target audiences.
Proactively develop content ideas to secure both long and short lead media coverage, working with the Department's creative agency and in-house content team to deliver these ideas.
Recruit and brief campaign case studies; write press releases, social media posts and briefings.
Manage the PR budget, following the Department's financial processes and driving value for money.
Exercise strong news judgment and provide robust and considered media handling advice, identify and mitigate potential risks.
Develop good working relationships with external stakeholders and with colleagues in marketing, press office, policy and with Ministers, Cabinet Office and No.10.
Monitor and evaluate media coverage to analyse effectiveness and inform future activity.
Provide professional communications advice to Ministers and senior policy and communication colleagues.
If required, participate in the press office out-of-hours duty rota.

Essential Experience:

Background in PR, journalism or marketing
Led and managed integrated proactive campaigns using both a low cost and paid approach
Devised creative and strategic communication plans to support campaign delivery using audience insight to inform tactics and channels
Managed communications agencies
Developed content for distribution via a range of social media channels
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good news sense and highly effective at spotting and implementing proactive opportunities
Excellent organisational skills to manage self and agencies to meet deadlines
Good understanding of how to apply different evaluation methods to campaigns
Strong understanding of how to integrate on and off line campaigns.
