Description

Sopra Steria Recruitment is working in partnership with a major public sector in the UK. We are currently recruiting Marketing Communications Manager for 5 months contract initially with possible extension.

Essential Experience:

  • Educated to post-graduate level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in a communications, PR or marketing role.
  • Excellent proven written communication skills, with experience of writing for a variety of audiences, including board/executive team reports, strategies, web copy, public-facing documents, media statements etc
  • Ability to deliver results by managing others and directing the activities of others and/or using a range of levers in the absence of direct line management responsibility
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with clients and a range of stakeholders
  • Experience of creating and delivering marketing campaigns
  • Experience of developing relationships with the media to ensure reputational damage is limited and PR opportunities are maximised
  • Experience of working with content management systems
  • Knowledge of web technology for marketing and PR purposes, including CMS, social networks/blogs and online advertising
  • Good knowledge of marketing communications techniques, including online and social media communications
  • Good knowledge of best practice in relation to media management
  • Good understanding of research techniques

Context of the role:

The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of a corporate communications and marketing service that meets with the business objectives of NEL CSU, including:

  • Taking ownership and driving forward a corporate communications strategy for NEL CSU that aids the growth and development of the organisation, and ensuring the buy-in of that strategy across the organisation
  • Brand guardianship, managing the development of the corporate visual identity
  • Leading on corporate social media and corporate website content such as case studies and positive news stories - ensuring all information is fully integrated and consistent
  • Managing external events and other PR opportunities.
  • Profile raising and reputation management.

The post holder will report to the Director of Communications with additional links to the Director of Business Development.

Review, redevelop and implement a corporate communications and marketing strategy and plan, by working with the corporate management team, the business development team, the digital and marketing team, the internal communications lead and other colleagues to:

  • identify what is needed to support organisational objectives
  • plan effectively to meet those needs
  • deliver accurate and timely communications actions and products
  • building effective relationships with corporate directors and other key staff across the organisation.

Provide advice and support to protect and enhance NEL CSU's reputation, in particular through:

  • creating strong relationships with key opinion formers
  • effective and timely media communications activity
  • the provision of high-quality public-facing communications materials.

Commission third parties such as designers or printers or research or evaluation of communications monitoring and analysis, demonstrating return on investment (ROI) as appropriate.

Report regularly to Corporate Management Team as required.
