Description

One of the major UK construction and infrastructure companies is looking to appoint a Site Engineer with structures experience to join their team in Tonbridge. This is a temporary role for 3 months (with a possibility to be extended). The project is A21 Tonbridge to Pembury Improvement Scheme and includes dualling both ways of existing carriageway.

Main duties/responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate dimensional and quality control
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with standard company HSE procedures and work instructions
  • Ensure accurate translation of design information to the workforce
  • Maintain daily diary for recording all necessary engineering and production information
  • Ensure that design information is accurately translated and implemented on site both in terms of dimensional and quality control
  • Provide technical and quality control records in line with BMS procedures
  • Identify potential risk and opportunities and escalate these as appropriate
  • Carry out allocated tasks so as to comply with BMS and Group Minimum Commercial Expectations
  • Where appropriate and where used on the specified project, assist with the utilisation of BIM to support progress monitoring and incorporate information to support change management, variations orders and encourage all sub-contractors/supply chain members to integrate their work into BIM
  • Support project commercial team by providing clear records of site and/or design changes
  • Assist in ensuring that client information is timely and accurate
  • Support and promote all aspects of the Mission Alignment Process action plan
  • Monitor and record progress on a daily basis and provide information to senior engineers for onward short-term planning
  • Assist with short-term planning and co-ordination activities, monitor progress on a daily basis and provide feedback on resource and output levels
  • Maintain and review short-term programme targets
  • Assist with monitoring and co-ordinating sub-contract packages
  • Resolve package interface issues
  • Resolve design issues with design team and document all changes necessary to maintain efficient site process

The ideal candidate will have following skills and experience:

  • Structures experience
  • Awareness of the construction process
  • Knowledge of sub-contracting principles
  • Knowledge of surveying and setting out theory
  • Proficiency in administration, writing, numeracy, IT and MS Office
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Enthusiasm and results focus, together with an ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of effective negotiation skills with both internal and external customers
  • SSSTS and CSCS card is required
