Experienced Chassis Designer required to work on high performance vehicles at a leading Automotive OEM on a rolling contract.
CAD Engineer - Chassis
Standard Rates: 28-30 GBP per Hour
Location: Gaydon, Warwickshire
Job Purpose
Complete all required CAD duties to support Chassis Release Engineers
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
o Support Chassis component engineers with component and system designs in NX.
o Main components will be Pedal boxes, throttle pedals, upper and lower column, column gaiter, brake booster, Chassis ECUs and sensors.
o Model Chassis components and produce kinematic models with dynamic clearance envelopes.
o Prepare detail drawings & models of proposed design changes to support the release process.
o Contribute effectively to team technical discussions to ensure that the component engineers understand the effects of proposed design changes.
o Support problem solving/quality teams as directed by management.
o Keep abreast of technical developments within the industry, with particular reference to the evolution of NX.
o Plan and prioritise own workload.
Qualifications & Experience
o Engineering Degree in appropriate discipline.
o Extensive experience within an automotive or automotive components supplier group.
o Experience working in NX.
o Fully capable with 2D drafting.
o Working knowledge of Suspension, Braking, and Steering systems including the use of kinematic models to manipulate components.
o Good working knowledge of VIS Mockup and Team Centre.
o AMPCS knowledge or equivalent process knowledge (GPDS, FPDS).
o Able to work as part of a small team and actively participate in creation and development of innovative design solutions within the CAD environment.
o Experience of CAD system migration.
o Strong time management, accuracy, diligence, ability to balance and prioritise multiple tasks to meet customer needs.
o Knowledge in all Microsoft Office applications would be useful.
