Goal:
The Field Engineer Wireline provides an interface between client's requests and needs and will be responsible for the on-site operational follow-up of projects in execution.
Key Result Areas:
Field Work:
- Install, integrate and maintain telecom equipment.
- Install and maintain fiber & copper cabling, including placement of connectors.
- Inspect work performed by subcontractors.
- Be 24/7 on call service.
- Ensure maintenance and cleaning of site.
- Liaise with peers to keep focus on pre-requisites and deliverables.
- Find technical solutions for daily issues in the field.
- Provide a clear and complete reporting and follow-up of planning.
- Troubleshoot when necessary.
- Execute field work or office work in accordance with project engineer requests.
- Solve problems and escalate issues to the Project Engineer when required.
- Provide technical expertise and daily field support on technical testing issues.
- Find technical solutions for daily issues in the field.
- File and document own activities& update information in LCC databases.
- Receive occasionally requests from client.
- Control quality of results (QC control).
- Control and manage equipment (software, hardware, phone, test Sim, etc.).
- Report issues and progress to the project engineer.
- Coordinate the assigned engineers or external partners to ensure efficient operations and execution
Health and Safety:
Follow the VCA process within the company:
- Monitor VGM plan (before start work on site);
- Record and report Incidents/Accidents;
- Act as an example toward your team members and take the lead to work safely;
- Report H&S issues at all times;
- LMRA process at all times.
Internal & External Contacts
- Internal: Attend team meetings and briefings.
- External: interface with clients and suppliers.
Performance Indicators

Profile
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or applicable IT, cabling and Telecom Experience or equivalent.
- Minimum requirements: High School Diploma, 2 years technical school or equivalent, valid drivers' license and insurability.
- Fluent in English, Dutch and/or French.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of related experience in wireless standards engineering
- Solid understanding of wireless access network communication principles.
- IT, cabling and Telecom experience is a plus.
Technical Competencies
- Good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience in wireless systems such as: PDH/SDH/TDM/IP, etc.
- Demonstrated technical experience in design and optimization.
- Comprehensive knowledge of 4G wireless systems and protocols; additional knowledge and experience in other wireless network standards is a plus.
- Electrical: basic knowledge.
- Knowledge of measurement tools.
- Good written reporting.
- Working on heights.
- VCA Basic.
- First aid initiation.
- Good understanding of IT and telecom equipment.
