Test Engineer, Linux, TCP/IP, hardware integration, API testing

We are working with a company based near Newcastle who are looking to recruit an experienced tester for an initial 3 month contract. You will be involved in hands on testing across multiple test phases; Functional Testing, System Testing, Integration Testing, Regression Testing, Exploratory Testing. You will need to have proven experience of software and Embedded system testing as well as an understanding of TCP/IP Networking, exposure to hardware integration and PC architecture types and ideally experience of testing Linux products and APIs.

You will be joining an existing team of experienced testers and work on all aspects of verification and validation.

You will be required to;

. Analyze software requirements and ensure clarity of understanding.
. Familiarization of the software under test and any related software/hardware.
. Understand the master test plan.
. Create or assist in creating own test plan.
. Design test cases based on the requirements and other documentation.
. Obtain or create test data required for testing.
. Set up the required test beds/environments.
. Test software releases by executing assigned tests.
. Record test results and capture appropriate evidence.
. Report defects to the development team.
. Report test progress to the QA manager and other stakeholders when required.
. Reply to returned bug reports in a timely manner.
. Re-test resolved defects, record result and capture appropriate evidence.
. Update test cases based on the discovered defects.
. Provide inputs to the team to improve the test process.
. Log own time in the project management software or time tracking system.
. Report work progress and any problems faced or associated risks as required.
. Keep up-to-date on the development technology, the popular testing tools and the business domain.
. Investigating/replicating Customer Incidents on the test bed.
. Reviewing user guide, release notes and other product related documents.
. Providing support to the project engineers when required.

The contract is set to run for 3 months initially although there is a good chance of extensions and pay cGBP 350 per day.
