Description
Modis are currently recruiting on behalf of an innovative multinational company based in Oxford for a Design Engineer, initially on a six month contract but likely to be extended for another six months.
Having designed a prototype 70" LCD digital sign, the product is soon due to go into mass production and requires an experienced Design Engineer to assist. Main work would be on CAD (using Catia V5) designing sheet metal parts and system level designs, as well as releasing 3D and 2D of these parts.
Working in a fast moving environment designing/developing LCD modules and devices there will be some customer and supplier interaction, so the successful Design Engineer will have to be comfortable discussing technical issues over the phone, skype and in person.
Essential Skills
*Strong CAD experience (3D modelling & 2D drawing generation) in Catia
*Experience designing products with both Plastic and Sheet Metal/pressings
*DFM (Design for Manufacture)
*Ability to clearly explain design concepts and direction in design reviews
*Responsible for customer technical discussions on mechanical issues
Desirable Skills
*Thermal modelling experience, air cooling, heat sink design
*LCD Design experience
*System integration design
