Maker Space Manager - 3 months - Edinburgh
Harvey Nash's Public Sector client in Edinburgh requires a Maker Space Manager to join them on a contract basis. This will be an initial 3 month contract, potentially extending further.
The client have identified an opportunity to establish a rapid prototyping facility and co-working Maker Space, which is aimed to provide a highly technical service across the organisation.
Your job will be to shape this facility and develop it further to encourage use across the organisation.
Main duties will include:
. Initial Maker Space set up
. Developing introduction training sessions
. Day-to-day management of Maker Space activity
. Monitor impact of Maker Space, ensuring it is filling key performance indicators
. Promoting the Maker Space Lab through event management (hack-a-thons, workshops, training)
. Manage the legal and health and safety aspects to ensure Maker Space is compliant
Essential Skills:
. Experience in commercial relations and growing business relationships
. Degree Educated in relevant field (ideally engineering)
. CAD & CAM knowledge
. Strong understanding of electronics
. Knowledge of rapid prototyping equipment such as CNC Routers, 3D printers, Laser cutters
. Understanding of the Maker Space environment and marketplace
. Good risk assessment abilities
. A technical knowledge of digital manufacturing equipment and processes would be highly desirable, as well as 2D and 2D CAD drawing packages
. Product design experience
