Description

Introduction:

  • The purpose of this position description is to define the authority, responsibilities, duties, reporting relationships, and measures of performance for the QC Inspector at Westside.

Position Overview:

  • The basic function of the QC Inspector is to provide support for the shop floor in producing parts that meet customer requirements, with minimum rework and waste.

Education:

  • High School diploma.

Experience:

  • Inspector C: 6 months as a production Assembler or general inspector, cosmetic dentistry industry and/or receiving inspector experience.
  • Inspector B: 1-2 years as a general inspector, cosmetic dentistry industry and/or receiving inspector experience.
  • Inspector A: 3+ years as a general inspector, cosmetic dentistry industry and/or receiving inspector experience. Able to perform receiving and return processing duties.

Skills/Knowledge/Ability:

  • Attention to detail, legible writing skills, able to verbally communicate issues with supervisors. Good organizational skills are important. Computer skills a plus.

Physical:

  • Able to work on feet 75% to 90% of the time.

Mental:

  • Analytical skills, mathematics, reading, spelling, writing, and the ability to communicate in English to all levels of an organization. Reporting Relationships

Supervisor:

  • The Quality Control Supervisor

Subordinates: N/A

  • Authority The QC Inspector is delegated sufficient authority to make decisions and take action required to satisfy the responsibilities of the position. Included is the authority reject any component or product that is defective.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and verify product at various levels of completion according to inspection plan.
  • Document inspection data in a clear and legible fashion.
  • Quarantine and control non-conforming product through the process until material is caged.
  • Control documentation and retains per work instructions.
  • Communication with line leads and supervisors as to level of quality and compliance to requirements.
  • Labeling finished goods properly when released.
  • Following policies, work instructions and procedures.

Goals & Objectives:

  • Prevent defective product from being produced and released to next production phase.
  • Provide timely communication as to the status or quality level of parts to production.
  • Ensure clear and good documentation of inspection activities.
  • Assist enforcement of regulations, procedures, policies and work instructions as they relate to product quality.

Measures of Performance:

  • Timely and accurate inspections.
  • Timely and accurate support provided to the production department related to quality control and inspection.
  • Initiative is shown in taking on additional duties and responsibilities.
  • Seeks guidance and direction as necessary from supervisor(s).
  • Displays positive attitude and maintains a cooperative working relationship with departmental manager, supervisor, and all other employees.
