Director of Corporate Service - Inverness

Financial Management/Qualified Accountant/Governance/financial and budgetary control/

Our Inverness based client has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Qualified Accountant for a Director of Corporate Services contract initial through until Feb 2017.

The successful candidate will ensure the provision of Corporate and Financial Services to enable effective and efficient management.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Qualified Accountant with experience of financial and budgetary control within experience gained within large organisations.
  • Knowledge of financial and management accounting best practice, understanding of Financial regulations and recommended practice from, SFC, Audit Scotland and SORP etc.
  • Track record of leadership and management at a senior level
  • Previous planning experience at a strategic level
  • Experience in use of computerised accounting systems within large complex organisations
  • Previous team leader or team management experience
  • Ability to analyse different sources of information and make clear recommendations based on sound analysis
  • Ability to analyse and resolve problems, identifying coherent and considered recommendations and solutions
  • SQCF level 10/Honours Degree or appropriate professional qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Experience of managing internal and external relationships

Desirable skills

  • Financial management experience within the education sector

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the development and appropriate submission of revenue and capital budgets, financial reports and annual accounts.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the financial activities comply with the Financial Memorandum and Accounts Direction to meet legislative requirements.
  • To work with the Director of Business Development to ensure effective financial planning across diverse teams, to ensure the profitability of commercial undertakings, income-generating activities and enterprise projects.
  • Responsible to senior management for all matters relating to Finance, IT and Estates Services, and the management of the IT and Facilities Management contract.
  • To work with the Directors to manage staffing budgets to ensure efficient staff deployment.
  • To identify and recommend improvements in procedures and processes to improve efficiency.
  • To manage the IT and Facilities Management contract, ensuring that a rigorous approach is taken to the monitoring of service standards.
  • To ensure all funds are properly accounted for and that finances are effectively and efficiently administered.
  • To notify the Senior Management promptly of any matters or areas of concern including irregularities regarding financial affairs.
  • To design and implement an annual calendar of activities to comply with statutory and audit requirements and best practice financial management.
  • To advise on, design and implement an annual Budget process to enable managers to plan and control their income and expenditure.
