Marketing and communications manager with proven line management experience to help manage through a transitional period. Must have good skills across the marketing and communications mix and to be strong in digital and email marketing approaches in particular. Experience/knowledge of local govt or closely related sector communications requirements is essential.

Marketing Lead to lead and advise on the development and management of digital and targeted marketing and communications approaches across the department and their integration with web development.

  • Be responsible for the day to day management of a team of Marketing Officers, reporting to the Head of Marketing.To be responsible for a range of corporate and service marketing campaigns and provide expert advice on marketing-led approaches.
  • To be responsible for line management of two Marketing Officers, assisting with advising and prioritising of work in liaison with the Head of Marketing.
  • To ensure that appraisals are carried out with all staff as required and development needs identified and implemented.
  • To lead on the development of cost-effective digital and targeted marketing and communications activities, and to maintain an expert level awareness of developments in this field so as to advise others and make recommendations to senior managers.
  • To work closely with the Web Editors to ensure the integration of digital marketing and communications activities with the websites.
  • To lead and advise on the capture, analysis and use of data relevant to marketing approaches and contribute effectively to corporate projects in this area.
  • To work with senior managers and Members to plan, cost and deliver a range of marketing and communications activities to support client departments' business plans and priorities in liaison with colleagues across the department.
  • To lead on the development of approaches for evaluating effectiveness of marketing and communications and co-ordinate reporting across the marketing team.
  • To manage the work of the marketing team's use of online channels including e-media, social media and networking sites.
  • To be responsible for managing budgets associated with campaigns for which the postholder is the lead and make recommendations on expenditure of up to £100k
  • Develop new and interesting story ideas and research, write, proof-read and edit copy for media releases and a range of other publications such as residents' magazine
  • To commission a range of print and creative design services and other marketing campaign materials through internal and external suppliers, making detailed recommendations to ensure that creative campaigns meet requirements
  • To be responsible for writing and uploading of content to the web-site.
  • To manage project teams working on campaigns for which the post holder is responsible, including the management of the work of agency or contractor staff
  • To establish and maintain effective working communications and liaison with a range of services to create awareness and understanding of the role of marketing and communications and influence the adoption of best practice
  • To manage projects to help achieve revenue through sponsorship and advertising, to include the identification of new and innovative opportunities and negotiations with potential sponsorship partner organisations at a senior level
  • Attend evening meetings and occasionally attend events outside normal office hours and undertake other duties as directed in line with the overall marketing and communications objectives .
