NX Design Engineer

Location: South Coast

Introduction: NX Design Engineer -

A vacancy has arisen for a professional Design Engineer to work within a passionate and dedicated team. You will be working on projects through all stages: from design and development stage through to the final manufacture and implementation.

The client is a well-respected specialist manufacturer whose products are recognised globally. They now require a Design Engineer who will take responsibility for testing and validating their exciting, state-of-the-art product line.

The successful Design Engineer will have experience in the Automotive/Aerospace/Marine sectors and ideally have knowledge of vehicle powertrain systems and be able to approach obstacles with unique solutions.

As the Design Engineer, you will perform:

  • Experience using NX software, however my client will be open to considering other CAD software including; CREO, Catia V5, SolidWorks.
  • Experience working in an Automotive/Motorsport/Marine environment.
  • Experience with base engine components and systems.
  • Experience in similar Mechanical Design or problem solving.
  • Experienced with design drawings and geometric tolerancing.
  • Powertrain design experience.

The role itself will be responsible for the Design of engine components and systems on multiple and unique powertrain projects. The project itself will be expected to last 6 months.

The successful candidate will have first-hand experience working closely with a company leading the way with innovative designs that marry marine and motorsport technology. Specialising in cutting edge diesel engine powertrain technology inspired by motorsport and aviation.

Educational Background:

The candidate will have been educated to degree level or equivalent in a mechanical engineering discipline with postgraduate experience within an engineering environment.

The candidate should ideally meet the requirements for registration as incorporated or chartered engineer and preferably be a member of a relevant professional body.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Educated to Degree level in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience.
  • Experienced in an automotive test and development environment preferred.
  • Experience of any or all of the following is an advantage: low volume, high performance vehicle programmes.
  • Delivery of whole vehicle development programmes, from concepts through to series production.
  • A broad range of vehicle and rig data acquisition, test and analysis techniques.
  • A broad range of industry proving grounds and technical partners.
  • Ability to apply detailed technical knowledge to the understanding of new technologies, development of engineering designs and resolution of engineering problems.

Personal Attributes:

  • Should be well-organised and methodical, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to work well alongside a team of prototype technicians, providing leadership and guidance where needed.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of self-motivation, initiative and flexibility, and determination to see a task through to completion.
  • Must be prepared to adopt a flexible approach to working hours to ensure development activities are carried out as and when required.
