Communications Manager

My client, a global Powerhouse in the Social Media industry, is looking for a Communications Manager to join their team in London for an 11 month contract.

My client is looking for an experienced Corporate Communications Manager to lead their proactive and reactive projects in Sub-Sahara Africa. The ideal candidate will have extensive leadership experience in both corporate and product communications, crisis management, working with senior executives and will be able to balance handling a combination of breaking news and Real Time requests with managing strategic corporate projects and product announcements. The ability to combine strategy and flawless execution, ruthlessly prioritise and work on a number of projects at once will be essential.

This position is initially for an 11 month contract and will be based in London.

Responsibilities

  • Working with EMEA comms colleagues, lead and execute the Sub-Sahara Africa PR strategy, plans, programs and budgets based on brand image, sales objectives and company goals;
  • Provide guidance and assistance in implementing PR strategies and programs to external agencies;
  • Provide mentorship and support for business leaders;
  • Work cross-functionally with product, platform, policy, monetization and other international PR team members on individual media opportunities and broader programs;
  • Support brand/corporate reputation through crisis/issues effective management;
  • Proactively identify and pitch stories that showcase Facebook's culture and business;
  • Prepare briefing materials and manage executive spokespeople;
  • Educate press, bloggers, analysts and influencers about core Facebook products and initiatives

Skills Required

  • Undergraduate or equivalent qualification is preferable;
  • Solid professional experience, in communications or journalism;
  • Deep Sub-Sahara Africa media relationships;
  • Willingness to travel to and from Sub-Sahara Africa;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver multi-Country campaigns and projects through collaborative and multi-disciplinary teamwork;
  • Expertise in managing PR agencies and contractors;
  • Proven ability to work with and influence a range of stakeholders;
  • Strong project management and decision-making skills;
  • Superb English verbal and written communications skills.
  • Fluency in English required;
  • Applications must be submitted in English;
  • 7+ years professional PR experience, agency and in-house preferred
