Description

One of our leading clients in renewable energy is currently looking for a Resident Engineer to work on an onshore wind farm project based in North Scotland.

The resident Engineer will be responsible for:
  • All Environmental, Health and Safety incident and near miss reporting to the PM in a form and timescale required by the PMs.
  • Alerting the PMs to any perceived risks as they arise eg Early Warning and contributing to Risk Review meetings.
  • Assistance as required by the PMs in reviewing and preparation of all documentation (letters, reports etc) relating to claims, variations etc whether received from the Contractor or to be issued by the PMs.
  • Assessing design changes and advising the PMs.
  • Ensure that the Contractor presents copies of and maintains a register of all applications and all issued licenses and permits which are required to be obtained by the Contractor for any aspect of the works (eg Building Warrants, Additional Planning Consents, Drainage and Discharge Consents, Road Opening Permits etc.) and shall ensure that no part of the works will commence until the necessary permits are obtained and conditions discharged in full.
  • Carry out a sufficient sample of spot checks on the setting out of buildings and turbine locations and road lines, in order to ensure that all spatial requirements in regard to Planning and Lease are satisfied.
  • Reviewing drawings and design calculations, (where competent to do so), and advising the PMs of any issues.
  • Carry out measurement duties and keep records where these are required by virtue of the payment mechanisms of the contract.
  • Keep weather, road condition and works undertaken records on a daily basis and in sufficient detail to deal with the requirements of the contract in regard to extraordinary adverse weather and other delays.
  • Providing assistance as required by the PMs in dealing with complaints from any party including the public.
  • Responsible for taking minutes at the monthly meetings and forwarding them to the PMs for issue. The Senior PM will chair all such meetings.
  • Adherence to an agreed correspondence register where all incoming and outgoing correspondence is logged and saved; written communications will be undertaken on an agreed basis with the PMs.
Initial Tasks
Tasks which will be undertaken by the RE at the outset of each phase of construction work will include:
  • Site walkover with the Contractor site manager/agent and relevant sub-contractor manager to clearly identify any construction issues with respect to design, safety and the environment.
  • Input in to the Contractors site induction covering all site environmental and Health and Safety issues.
  • Review of the Contractor's MS/RA and provide comments to the PMs.
Regular Tasks
  • Liaison with Contractors and Inspection of Working Areas.
  • Liaison with Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW).
  • Liaison with archaeologist.
  • Liaison with Landowner.
  • Health and Safety Walk-Over's and inspections.
  • Communication with on-site personnel and witnessing of inspection and testing.
