Description

One of our leading clients in renewable energy is currently looking for several WTG Quality Inspectors to work for an offshore windfarm asset in the UK.

The role will be based at the WTG Assembly and Installation ports at Great Yarmouth. However, there may also be requirement to carry out inspections in the manufacturing facilities.

The successful candidate will be expected to be a team player and be prepared to assist on any package as and when a need arises.

Principal Accountabilities:

The Quality Control Inspector's principle duties will be to:

Conduct surveillance onshore in the assembly/base ports for WTG component/modules assembly and offshore installation works undertaken by contractor which includes but not limited to;
  • Monitoring compliance of the contractor in accordance with contractual requirements and QMS.
  • Goods inwards inspection- logging serial numbers, recording damages and signing of delivery certification.
  • Working with the contractor and other disciplines to conduct a Mechanical Completion Reference Inspection onshore at the load out point, noting all defects and ensuring they are all logged by the contractor.
  • Conducting onshore Mechanical Completion Inspection for every turbine and its modules/components in line with the agreed reference standards.
  • Working with the contractor and other disciplines to conduct a Mechanical Completion Reference Inspection offshore, noting all defects ensuring they are all logged by the contractor and ensure/monitor the closure of defects from previous inspections.
  • Conducting Offshore Mechanical Completion walk down inspections approx. 10% in accordance with the Mechanical Completion Reference Inspection standard, noting all defects/rectification works ensuring a fully auditable trail is maintained by the contractor.
  • Working with the contractor and other disciplines to conduct a Commissioning Completion Reference Inspection offshore, noting all defects/rectification works ensuring a fully auditable trail is maintained by the contractor.
  • Conducting Commissioning Completion walk down inspections up to 100% in accordance with the Commissioning Completion Reference Inspection standard, noting all defects/rectification works ensuring a fully auditable trail is maintained by the contractor.
  • Monitoring the snagging defects categorisation and rectification works at each stage.
  • Compilation of the consolidated snagging lists by the contractor at each stage and ensure accuracy.
  • Review contractor's documentation and compliance to it.
  • Conduct quality inspections and identify non-conformance at site and if requested in the vendors/supply chains facilities.
  • Write inspection reports.
  • Make recommendations for NCRs and Concessions.
  • Log quality defects; expedite their remediation and eventual close-out.
  • Review and comment on As Built Record Packs and other quality related documentation submitted by the Contractor and his Subcontractors in liaison with the appropriate package engineers.
  • Expedite required quality documentation that is not forthcoming.
  • Monitor progress of the works.
  • Attend the Contractor's and his Subcontractors' works to carry out inspection and surveillance (these may be at locations outside the UK).
  • Report on progress to the Quality Control Engineer (WTG) and WTG Package Managers.
Skills & Experience:

Essential:
  • HND/HNC Qualified Technician in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Time served apprentice with NVQ or City and Guild Qualifications or equivalent in an electromechanical background.
  • Experienced in WTG's preferably direct drive, in an assembly/maintenance or operator capacity.
  • Experience of high voltage electrical engineering to 33kV.
  • Experience of Hydraulics.
  • The applicant must hold valid certificates or prepared to obtain before starting as follows:
    • Personal Survival Training (PST) Bosiet UK based inspectors only
    • First Aid at Work Training (either HSE Approved or compliant with Renewable UK Guidelines STCW-95)
    • Renewable UK, Work at Heights and Rescue Training - Wind Turbine Standard.
    • Undertake all entry requirements as required by the contractor to work on their site.
  • Experience working in a similar QC capacity in an OEM, client or contractor.
  • Experience working offshore.
  • Fluent written & verbal English.
  • IT literate and experienced in use of Microsoft applications, word, excel and outlook.
  • Prepared to undergo training in use of clients Document Management System EcoDoc.
Desirable:
  • ICORR, NACE or FROSIO coating tickets.
  • CSWIP Level 3.0 or 3.1 or equivalent.
  • Blade Repair Experience.
  • Pressure System Safety Requirements/Pressure Equipment Directive.
  • LOLER.
  • Experience of Statutory Inspection
