Description

  • Support the Communications Manager as principal communications advisor to the Northern Estate Programme.
  • Develop and implement an integrated communications strategy and plan to facilitate acceptance and understanding of the programme throughout its life cycle.
  • Proactively identify and resolve communications challenges, such as identifying public relations implications of programme work/activity and advising the programme of an appropriate course of action to minimise reputational risks.
  • Communicate persuasively with MPs and their staff and with House Committees on the Northern Estate Programme and its implications for Members.
  • Support members of the NEP Programme team, other officials, and Members in communicating information about the Northern Estate Programme to the media, including preparing them for print and broadcast interviews.
  • Produce high-quality written material, including researching, editing and proof-reading, and provide support for all outbound communication as required including promotional materials, programme documents, website content, newsletters, annual reviews etc.
  • Build strong contacts through effective liaison and networking to become a credible source and voice of the programme.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with our press lobby and wider media through ongoing engagement and building on successful approaches.
  • Handle requests for information about the programme from the public, press, Members and others, including Questions and Freedom of Information/Environmental Information requests.
  • Manage the proactive publication of information on the external and internal websites, and other media where appropriate, in accordance with an approved plan.
  • Organise and co-ordinate events and other engagement activities.
  • Take part in the Communications team's out-of-hours media service including anticipating potential reputational risk and taking appropriate steps to mitigate that risk where necessary.
  • Work in an inclusive and flexible environment to deliver high quality work.
  • Ensure that accurate, impartial and high quality information is provided to the media in a timely way in response to enquiries.
  • Draft press releases, media 'lines to take' where procurement activity is likely to illicit media interest and amend as necessary any third party service/works provider press releases that relate to the NEP
