I'm looking for a Principal System Engineer

My client is a top tier defence contractor

this is a 12 month contract

if you are successful you must be prepared to undergo "SC Clearance"

Main Duties:

The Principal Systems Engineer shall possess intimate knowledge of aircraft electrical power systems, and experience with power conversion and distribution products. This role will support a new flagship programme within the More Electric Aircraft domain, overseeing the system integration and certification on a broad range of power product developments for our customer needs - and in turn feed specifications to constituent products. This new programme will produce a family of products that support the IPS business strategy and technical roadmap, that has significant importance

The role will require experience in power electronics with ability to solve complex technical problems on new and existing power products. The role is expected to work closely with the IPS Business Unit and Engineering to understand the scope of future opportunities which can be developed and delivered by the Power and Control business.

Essential Candidate Requirements:
* Significant experience within the Aerospace Industry, particularly power systems.
* Proven track record in the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Defining the Concept of Operations for the solution being offered and interface control documents.
* Experience in performing the technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis.
* Demonstrated experience in reviewing technical, programme and delivery to assure the performance and cost targets for the delivered systems are met. Supporting the generation of estimates for the System Engineering activities, in accordance with the work breakdown structure.
* Experience in supporting bids and proposals, ensuring customer requests for proposals (RFPs, or equivalent) are understood completely, enabling effective bid submissions to be generated, reviewing the technical aspects of the contract and identifies any issues.
* Experience in defining and documenting the system-level solution in consultation with all relevant engineering functions.
* Working knowledge and demonstrable achievement in systems engineering principles with regards product development.
* Collaboration with customer community to identify innovative candidate solutions for Power and Control products.
* Product development experience at team lead level.
* Experience of developing business technology strategies and implementing these within engineering, production and support teams.
* Strong communication skills, written, oral and listening skills; strong business acumen and diverse business perspective; ability to think logically and strategically.

Desired Candidate Requirements:
* Experienced in system modelling using MATLAB would be advantageous.
* Experienced in the design of Switch Mode Power Supplies.
* Experience using the Mentor Graphics tool suit; DxDesigner, Constraints Editor, HyperLynx tools such as Signal Integrity & Power Analyser, SystemVision simulation or equivalents would be advantageous.
* Experience of working with DOORS.
* Design or exposure to FPGA or DSP control.
* Knowledge of information or knowledge management solutions.
