We're looking for a senior content designer to work in a small team tasked with rethinking content for a high-profile area of a central Government department. The team will research and implement ways to guide priority user groups to the right outcomes, making services radically simpler and more effective.

Essential Criteria:

  • Design content to meet user needs and make complex language and processes easy to understand
  • Use data and research to identify precise user needs and inform content strategy and decisions
  • Convince stakeholders to take a user-centred approach, based on evidence
  • Understand and implement style and standards with rigorous attention to detail

Desirable Criteria:

  • Enable rapid delivery using iterative methods
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team in an agile development environment
  • Knowledge of GOV.UK and the Government Digital Service Standard

Key tasks and deliverables:

  • Consolidate existing research and identify gaps in insight
  • Prototype 2-3 approaches, test with users and iterate
  • Identify goals, measures and how to implement evidence-based decision making
  • Measurable reduction in failure demand
  • Increased uptake of online services
  • Plan for ongoing review and improvements
