Description

My client is currently looking to recruit a UX/UI Designer to be based out of their Taunton office. The role is offering £300 a day with an 6 month initial contract. This role is for a Public Sector organisation and is IN SCOPE OF IR35. It would probably suit a local candidate due to the Tax implications of this status.

The purpose of this role is two-fold:

Firstly, working with the two MINT agile development teams and user researchers to deliver new and improve existing user experiences, interactions and visual design, working throughout the entire project life cycle from initial idea generation, site maps, sketches, storyboards, process flows, user flows and wireframes to deliver visually rich, simple and easy-to-use experiences.

Secondly, working with the Head of Technical Product Engineering, you will be involved in guiding the UKHO UX/UI strategy within an agile Scrum environment.

The Interim Manager will be responsible for:

  • Designing user-centred interfaces and transaction flows
  • Creating and iterating prototypes to test and communicate ideas
  • Working with user researchers and Front End developers to turn concepts into user-centred services
  • Developing design briefs by using UX tools and gathering information by conducting all types of user research; interviews, surveys, click-monitoring.
  • Conducting and designing tests, analysing the results and integrating these changes into design processes.
  • Researching, scoping and defining all new feature development
  • Provide advice based on your experience to Head of TPE and Head of MINT programme in defining job descriptions for UX/UI roles within agile Scrum teams
  • Provide advice based on your experience on the integration of UI/UX roles within agile Scrum development teams How will Objectives/Deliverables/fundamental tasks be measured?
  • Line Management from Agile Capability Manager
  • Effectiveness of the design via Sprint Reviews and further usability testing
  • Direct feedback from Scrum Teams

The successful candidate will need:

  • Full brief of the core competencies, knowledge, skills and experience required
  • Be able to work quickly in an agile environment
  • Be able to explain ideas in a way that other people understand
  • Welcome the constructive criticism of their work
  • Be able to constructively review the work of others
  • Know how to interpret user research
  • Have a basic understanding of typography
  • Know how to design accessible, secure, responsive user interfaces
  • Understand how form and function work together
  • Know how to remove complexity from services
  • Be able to write for user interfaces
  • Explain design decisions and be able to represent a service at a service assessment
  • Put forward the case for design with a product owner
  • Collaborate on designs with a developer
  • Engage the whole multidisciplinary team with the design process
  • Deep understanding of the software development process
  • Experience of working in agile SCRUM teams
  • Experience of leading a UX/UI practice (Desirable)
