Communications Manager - Ring Fence Programme - 16 months - London

A top retail bank based in London currently requires a Communications Manager to join their Ring Fence Programme for an initial 16 month period.

Project Outline

The role holder will play an important role supporting the corporate communications requirements of the Ring-Fencing programme. Working within the Corporate Communications workstream, the role will include supporting with the planning and delivery of a range of communications activities.

The workstream scope includes internal and external (non-customer) communications. The role holder will be expected to support across the scope of the workstream and own a range of content deliverables. Internal communications experience is essential including in relation HR/people change communications. Experience of media relations/public affairs is also desirable.

Given the complex nature of the ring-fencing programme, the role holder must have strong stakeholder management skills. To make the complexity clear for our audiences in a timely manner, the role holder will also require strong planning and writing skills.

Role responsibilities

  • Support the workstream lead/Accountable Executive by owning the maintenance and progression of the evolving plans, milestones and deliverables
  • Act as a trusted advisor and influence strategic communications decisions, sometimes at pace, in relation to the ring-fencing communications
  • Present recommendations and plans to senior workstream, programme and GCA stakeholders for feedback and to keep them informed of developments
  • Utilise project and change management experience, manage multiple, often conflicting priorities and stakeholders concurrently to deliver aligned communications
  • Support the running of the Corporate Communications workstream including secretariat duties at regular workstream meetings
  • Produce clear and concise colleague communications and/or turn technical and legal material into compelling user friendly copy, ensuring reputational risks are minimised.
  • Oversee the tactical delivery of communications across the scope of the Corporate Communications worsktream
  • Support with the interlock and alignment with the ring-fencing customer communications.
  • Manage complex governance and approval activities
  • Identify, escalate and mitigate reputational risks as appropriate
  • Develop appropriate measurement strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of communications
  • Live the Group's values, delivering high levels of performance and maintaining the integrity of the Code of Responsibility
  • Work effectively in a Matrix structure, deliver through others when required, prioritising personal workload and resource

  • Experience of delivering internal communications within a complex programme
  • Exemplary writing and editorial skills
  • Experience of managing complex sign off process
  • Experience of partnering programme workstreams and developing communications plans to support outputs
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
