Description

Our client are a large local government organisation and are looking for an experienced Communications Officer to join their team.

This is initially a 3 month contract which may be extended for the right candidate. Our client is looking for someone who can come on board and deliver a proactive and effective communications and engagement service, working with stakeholders within and outside the organisation which reflects contemporary best practice.

The successful applicant will liaise with the media dealing with queries and supports requests for data, pictures and information in a timely manner and lead on assigned communications and engagement portfolio working collaboratively with other teams from across the business. You will also be tasked with managing the clients social media presence including the sourcing and frequent updating of content, monitoring of activity and dealing with customer enquiries and support the planning and content management of the web site and Intranet, including the training of users, editing, updating and quality assuring content. You will also prepare management and Committee reports when required.

To be considered for this role you will be an experienced communications professional preferably within a public sector environment. You will also have experience of PR/Journalism and social media based communications within a previous role.
