This User Experience designer will primarily function as the voice of the user by determining what users (website visitors, mobile app user, associates/employees and customers are trying to accomplish, what are their expectations, what is their desired shopping experience, and determine opportunities to improve customer experience across all digital touch points. He/she must champion this information within the product development organization during the ideation and design phases. User Experience designer ensures that user needs, limitations, and attitudes are accounted for in the design. This role will be responsible for designing and conducting user-centered design research and usability testing on all digital properties and have the ability to create detailed screen wireframes to effectively communicate designs to product management, design, and development teams. The UX Architect is an advocate for usability, information architecture, and interface design, and is responsible for the delivery and output of quality and timely UX deliverables including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and presentations.
Job Description:
Serve as a leading voice of the user and act as a user experience advocate in considering digital decisions that will impact the customer and associates
Define audience needs and translate those into concepts for compelling interactions and user experience
Prototype user experience and interaction specifications
Facilitate design, concept and prototype sessions; develop an effective and efficient prototyping/storyboard process to communicate user experience visions to stakeholders.
Develop wireframe-quality mockups of screens and interaction designs, as well as document process flow.
Ensure that conceptual designs and wireframes meet high standards and business goals for quality
Support and guide the broader team as they ideate, collaborate, and design new experiences for in the digital ecosystem
Define and measure metrics to track user experience both overall and specific to strategic development
Develop, refine, and guide team through transition to leaner UX design practices
Continue to develop the role of User Experience, Usability Testing, Research and the User Centered Design process
Extend the User Experience discipline to more and more digital and physical touch points (stores, internal tools, etc.)
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have strong interest and capabilities in the design and development of engaging user experiences. They will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. This individual excels at providing both highly analytical as well as highly creative ideas to a design engagement. The candidate will also have extensive experience in a fast-paced and innovative development. A thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design methodologies is a must.
2-4 years of freelance/industry experience
Experience partnering with users and conducting usability/user labs
Strong conceptualization, visual communication
Exceptional design skills, production value, and attention to detail
Ability to create wireframes
Strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Fireworks and associated design tools preferred
Strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS preferred
eCommerce (B2B or B2C), Retail or Banking experience strongly preferred
Ability to work within an Agile/SCRUM development environment is preferred
